About ROBIN LARSEN

Robin Larsen is a unique architect in that he designs both houses and their surrounding gardens for both town and country houses.  He has extensive experience developing and designing rural properties in regional Victoria - some of which have won many awards and been featured on television.

In town, strict planning controls, the need for sound environmental design, plus a desire for low water and/or productive gardens, increases the need for careful siting and a good connection/relationship with the garden and surroundings.

On small to medium-sized country properties, choices need to be made about the location of services, trees and other plants, fences, and roads plus the positioning of the house and other buildings.

In order to make an attractive and practical place, many factors such as access to sunlight, the maintenance of views, and the control of wind must be considered and the whole arrangement of built and plant forms needs to be integrated into an effective whole.

Often creating this attractive space does not require costly additional elements, but instead, careful consideration of the whole arrangement and understanding how each element fits into the overall scheme.

Combining both strong architectural and landscape designs ensures that the final outcome is not only a beautiful place to live but one that is in harmony with its surroundings offering a very satisfying place to live.

Our design approach is to create a simple, elegant contemporary feel that takes advantage of plenty of natural textures – often local stone and hardwood timber - together with the advantages that modern materials and methods provide, including large windows and spacious interiors, all combined into a distinctive form.
